United Kingdom Regulatory Framework

Primary Regulator

Care Quality Commission (CQC)

The CQC is the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England. All registered providers must comply with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.

Professional Registration

Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)

Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)

All staff working with vulnerable adults or children must undergo DBS checks. ILP verifies DBS certificates as part of the candidate screening process.

  • Basic DBS: Unspent convictions and warnings
  • Standard DBS: Basic + spent convictions, cautions, reprimands, final warnings
  • Enhanced DBS: Standard + police records and barred list checks

Right to Work Verification

Employers must verify the right to work of all employees under the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. ILP provides verification tools for this purpose.

Republic of Ireland Regulatory Framework

Health Regulator

Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA)

HIQA is the statutory agency in Ireland responsible for setting and monitoring standards for health and social services.
